This is a plain-language summary of how this site works, not a substitute for legal advice. If you're relying on it for a business, contract, or compliance decision, have your own attorney review it.
What this site is
US Lead Pipe Check ("this site," "we," "us") republishes public lead and galvanized water service line records that state and municipal water utilities are required to publish under the EPA's Lead and Copper Rule Revisions. We don't create this data — we find it, standardize it into one consistent format, and make it searchable by address. The free search, the $9 PDF report, monitoring, and bulk lookups are all built on the same underlying records.
Data accuracy — please read this
Every result on this site is only as accurate, complete, and current as the government or utility source it came from. Utilities update their own inventories on their own schedule, sometimes infrequently; a line replaced last month may still show as Lead here until the utility re-publishes. Some sources classify certain records as "Unknown" because the utility itself hasn't determined the material yet — that is not the same as a confirmed Non-Lead result. We disclose known limitations of specific sources on our Sources page.
Nothing on this site — free or paid — is a substitute for a licensed plumbing inspection, a water test, or your water utility's own records. Don't use a result from this site as the sole basis for a real estate closing, a disclosure statement, a legal filing, or any decision where being wrong would cause real harm. Use it as a starting point, and verify directly with your water utility or a licensed professional before relying on it.
Paid products
The $9 PDF report, $3/month address monitoring, and bulk portfolio lookups all report the same underlying database record shown for free in search — the price pays for a formatted, downloadable, shareable document (and, for monitoring, an alert if that record changes), not for different or more accurate data than what's already visible for free. See our Refund Policy for what happens if something goes wrong with a purchase.
No warranty, limitation of liability
This site and its data are provided "as is," without any warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any decision made, or harm resulting from a decision made, in reliance on information from this site — including a paid report. Our total liability for any claim relating to this site is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, if any.
Acceptable use
The free lookup is for checking real addresses, not for scraping or reconstructing our database in bulk. If you need many addresses at once, use the paid bulk product, which is built for that and priced accordingly.
Changes
We may update these terms as the site changes. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the current version.
